Nesting?

On long winter nights I like to pull out my yarn and  crochet hooks. It keeps my hands and tired mind occupied while we wade through mindless television. I have grown tired of the usual hats, scarves, fingerless gloves, and afghans. I looked up free patterns on the Lion Brand Yarn website. What a treasure trove! I found an interesting new word:

Amigurumi (編みぐるみ?, lit. knitted stuffed toy) is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.[1] Amigurumi are typically animals, but can include artistic renderings or inanimate objects endowed with anthropomorphic features.[2]

Ami-goo-roo-mee is how I say it. It is fun and fast. I can usually finish a project in one or two nights.

Diana asked Brittany (as if I weren't right there in the room) "Why is Mom making all of these baby toys? Is she nesting?"
She asked as if it would be wrong, whatever nesting means!

I thought it over. I do not think a woman approaching a hysterectomy in 17 days is nesting. So there!
She is just having a lot of fun!

Easter Egg Animals

Baby in a Froggy Suit
These are my first attempts.
They are NOT perfect! Don't look too closely!

What do you think? Could I sell these for a few dollars at a Farmer's Market booth this summer? I am working on some pretty new aprons for just that purpose. I might as well expand the product inventory a bit!

These are darling! I love them! I love the little dolls. I know Brilynn would have loved them when she was a bit younger. I am quite sure you can sure they'll be a hit at a farmer's market!

Love You!

I am happy to see you gave Dolly #2 bangs like I suggested! They are wonderful, and I expect you will be soon extending your talents to the realm of hair stylist.

Wow, great job! You're a whiz at crocheting!

My favorite is the Easter Bunny! :)

I'm sad to know you have to go through a hysterectomy...sounds very painful. :(

I love all of these baby toys, sooo cute! They look pretty perfect to me. I'm afraid I'm one of the mindless television watchers and I'm not happy about it at all. I need a "project", I'll check out that website.

It sounds like your surgery is on March 16th. Jim is having surgery on that day too. He has a "mixed" tumor in his parotid gland around his ear. I will add your name, along with Jim's, to the prayer roll this Wednesday. You will feel so much better when it's over.
