Weekend in St. George

Honey, the Senior Finale Meet is in St. George. Would you like to go with me? I seriously thought about it for about one second and then said YES! This is the first time in 29 years of marriage that we have gone on a little trip and have not had to leave our kids with anyone!

I have been a swim coach's wife for, well, 29 years! I know how meets go....timing systems malfunction, delays...I didn't hold him to a schedule and I didn't step one foot inside of the pool building!

We stayed at the Budget Inn Suites on Main Street and I must say, I was impressed. It was very nice, very clean, and VERY QUIET! While my sweetie did his coaching thing I slept in, watched HGTV, took my time getting ready for the day, and then went shopping! I window shopped a bit but my BIG purchase (don't laugh) was at Jo Ann Fabric! I have searched the pattern drawers over and over at our Jo Ann store in Orem and the one I want is always sold out...ALWAYS! In this little store in St. George I had 7 of them in my hands!! Woo Hoo! I was happy! I should have bought them all and sold them on the black market up here! Now, if only I could sew...that's another post!

We enjoyed the 68 degree day on Saturday. We ate lunch outside by a lovely fountain and soaked up the rays. We found Dairy Queen (ours in Am. Fork closed down) and were so happy! We had dessert there both nights! I have some repenting to do in my walking shoes!

So...my photos are lame. I didn't get one of us together because that would have entailed actually asking someone to take a picture. I hate bothering people. But I got a few pretty sights.

Our pool at the hotel. We didn't use it but enjoyed the thought the we could have if we wanted too!

Look! Flowers! I haven't seen real flowers outside in four months! Oh, and I love the baby palm trees! Palm trees remind me of home..my Mesa home ,that is! I love them...did I say that?!

This is a silly sign outside of Rocky Mtn. Chocolate factory. It made me laugh!

This is my sweetie who is slightly annoyed that I am capturing his face with his mouth full of a dark chocolate Almond Turtle!

These are my happy feet! They are happy because they are up and resting. They are happy because they are wearing new, cutie pink loafers. AND they are happy because they are not wearing socks! It was warm there, did I mention that?

A final note about my happy feet...I spoke to Brittany on the phone Saturday evening. She said she was tired. She said she knows what I mean now when I say I am tired of running around all day and driving everyone everywhere and shopping and cleaning and fixing meals...! Did I mention that my feet had a nice weekend?

Well it sounds like you had a great little get away. I am curious about the pattern . . . you will need to blog and tell us what the hot demand pattern is.

It's fun to read about your own city from a visitor's point of view. Things that we just take for granted can bring real happiness to someone from "snow" country...like the pansies, for instance, we've had those all winter long and I've never given it a thought, now I will for sure. We are really, truly so sad that we weren't here this weekend, I still can hardly believe our bad luck at being gone. I hope you'll give us another chance by returning again soon. I'm glad you had a relaxing weekend and that the weather was nice. See you soon!!

I am so glad that you had such a wonderful warm weekend with your sweetie! I love that you got to put your feet up and rest a bit and I love that Brittany got a real appreciation of all that you do around there (not that she didn't before but it is different when you yourself have to do it).

Thank you so much for your sweet comment on our blog and thank you so much for all your prayers. You and Uncle Dee mean the world to us.

Love you,
JoLynn

P.S. Funny little thing-the highs this week are in the 80's. Brian was complaining tonight about how it's getting warm already and that he wishes we lived somewhere that it stayed cool awhile longer.

Marianne; I haven't seriously checked blogs in so long I can't remember. I did comment on one not too many days ago but I can't even remember whose. I am so glad you got away for a few days. Do it again, you need the rest. If you get to St. George again visit the old Tabernacle. I was just reading about Jacob Hamblin the other day. It mentioned he had left Pleasanton, New Mexico to go to St. George to report on his Mission. It mentioned him standing in the Tabernacle to give a talk. It was a very touching little article. This was shortly before he died. I have been busy typing all my Life stories and articles about our family, to send to Aunt Shirley, she has nothing. Her kids want them and now she has a Grandaughter who is very interested in Geneology and wants me to send copies of mine. When I visited the Tabernacle, the Lady Missionary took me to the stand and had me sit on the bench behind the Pulpit. She said it was the actual seat that Grandpa had sat on so many times when he gave talks there. It was quite a thrill. Well this is a pretty long comment. Forgive me. Mom
