A Rabbit and Busy-ness

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook this is not news but I am so happy to tell you that my dear Brittany has an amazing new job!
In January she began working as the Events Manager/Organizer for Google Fiber in Provo! She was growing restless at her old job after having done the same events over and over for four years. She yearned for new adventure and dare I say, more $$? The people at the offices in Provo have been amazing to her and she is enjoying it very much. Change is good but often hard. She's nervous abut getting it right, of course and wants them to like her. I know she will do a great job for them. They just had their big kick-off week and everything went so well. In case you don't know what Google Fiber is you can check out this link. I wish we had it in our end of the valley! Provo is only the 2nd test city in the nation and Miss B is honored to be part of something so great in it's beginning stages! We are pretty proud of her and how hard she works at whatever she is doing!

 I love their cute bunny logo! It certainly is fast fiber-optic service!

Along with her new job, Brittany was in need of a new place to live, closer in to downtown Provo. She found a great place and two very nice roommates! This means I got my sewing/guest room back!! I have been kept busy moving all of my sewing, scrap-booking, and crafting things downstairs. I am working on the mess, trying to organize and I'll show you some before and afters sometime soon. I have managed to get a few orders done amongst the chaos! Here are the latest aprons hot off the sewing table. They were a custom order for Melissa, Rachel's friend who is giving them to her Mom and mother-in-law. Sweet girl! These are the first aprons I have made that I did not choose the fabric for. Didn't she choose some pretty prints?

I hope those Moms use them and love them!

I have also finished a crocheted dolly for a friend in Washington. She wanted brown braids and a blue dress. Didn't this little gal turn out so cute?

I also had a bit of fun with the whole fox craze going on right now! I looked at a photo and made up my own pattern for this guy. What DOES the fox say, anyway?

Toronto: Part One

I have returned from my Big Adventure! It all began on Wednesday, Nov. 13th. I flew from Salt Lake City to Chicago, Illinois then changed planes and continued on to Buffalo, New York where Sarah met me. We jumped into her rental car and drove straight to Niagara Falls. It was late afternoon and I was afraid I wouldn't get to see the falls. Silly me! They have HUGE spotlights on them at night.

Sarah took me on a walking tour of the city of Toronto on Thursday. I will blog about this next time. Right now I am anxious to show you the main event! On Friday, after 6 years of unrelenting toil (to quote Wilbur the Pig about Charlotte the spider) Sarah received  A Doctor of Philosophy degree in history. Medieval/Renaissance to be exact. The building in the background is called University College. It is where we picked up her robes. There is a cool ghost story about it and why there is only one turret tower on the top. I'll tell you sometime! Bottom Left: Afterward I met Sarah's advisor Nicholas Terpstra. He has been such a help and support for her all of this time.  Bottom Center: Sarah's dear roommate Seija Kromm (it's Finnish pronounced Say-ah) was with me through the ceremony and I got this cute shot of them afterward. They teach Seminary together for the Stake. Bottom & Top Right: Sarah in the walkway outside of University College  where she dropped off her robes. She would have you know that the top right picture is not a serious one. We asked her to look scholarly, then we all laughed! It was a beautiful day and I was so honored to be there to see Sarah's long, hard work come to it's completion. I cannot tell you how proud I am of her perseverance and dedication to getting this done. She was offered a short-term job teaching a course at the Scarborough Campus of U of Toronto so that will keep her busy and give her grocery and rent money until another job comes along. She has applied everywhere and we will keep praying that she finds one. I will blog again soon and share some more of my Big Adventure in Canada and New York!

Why Worry?

Sorry I haven't been around lately! I've been checking in on all of you though, rest assured. I had a few weeks after I returned from California where I just didn't feel well. Something was off in my old body. The gray cloudy days, rain, and gloom added to my weariness, but the last five days or so have been so bright and sunny! I am feeling much better and the sun does something to me. It fills me with energy and a drive to get things done. That's what I have been doing. Cleaning out closets and cupboards and getting things done. I tackled my fabric stash the other day. After a whole spring and summer of sewing it was in a terrible mess! I have a lot more fabric than I thought I did, and I had forgotten how many pre-cut aprons I actually have waiting to become something beautiful!

 Here's my stash as it looks now. Wish me luck keeping it that way. And, yes, that is my camera strap hanging in the way.

I've also been worrying over my little flock of chicks. Every one of them! The Master has hurt his back, yet again. He fell while performing a skit with the other coaches for the opening party of BYU's Swimming and Dive teams. He landed hard on his left hip. The doctor thinks a muscle or ligament is torn. So much for his acting career. He is in a lot of pain and can barley bend over. How he puts his shoes on is a mystery! Hopefully we can figure out how to best help him. He has X-rays today. Quality of life not so great right now...!


Dr. Sarah is busy applying for jobs around the country. She has found a lot of joy serving as a Seminary teacher for her Stake, along with her roommate Seija, she teaches every other day. (They teach together on Wednesdays.) She has gotten very ill over that last week. She thinks bronchitis again.. Worry over jobs, worry over health...!

Miss Britt is in limbo over new jobs. She's waiting anxiously to hear from one in particular. She has had several call-back interviews and would love to move on in her life. Can't say more! Today she finds herself at the Utah County Courthouse in Provo. She made it through the first cut on a list of potential jurors. Today they are being individually interviewed. This is no ordinary jury duty. These jurors are being chosen for a very high profile murder case. If you live in the region it is on the daily news. It has been talked about on every cable news station and featured on shows like 20/20. That's all my girl needs right now!They've narrowed the field to 120 prospective jurors. What are the odds? Looks like one in ten. Life in turmoil and murder...!

Rach has applied for admittance to Utah State in Logan. She has decided art school is so pricey and she would really like to get her Bachelor's degree done and behind her while giving herself more time to save money to get to art school. Money...!

Richard is still working on some classes on Electronic High School. It is a process. The job search continues. I know he'll find just the right one for his unique needs and personality. Worrry about the future...!

I just hang around the house every day trying to keep all in order and get sewing done. I am getting my ETSY shop back up and running. It's not ready yet, but soon. Stress and pins in my fingers multiple time every day...! (But my fingers are tough, right?!)

There is much in our lives that is good and we are grateful. I know everything usually turns out alright and that things will be OK. Waiting is hard though. In the meantime, here is a little prayer I always think of this time of year. If only ghoulies and ghosties were all we had to bother us!
